Amid the ongoing probe into Zubeen Garg’s death, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has uncovered a significant financial transaction of around Rs 1 crore in the bank accounts of two of the singer’s personal security officers (PSOs).
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the state government has requested the Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax department to look into the financial angle in the Zubeen Garg death case.

“I hope the central agencies will take cognisance of it,” Sarma was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
Singer Zubeen Garg died under mysterious circumstances in Singapore on September 19 while swimming in the sea. He had gone to the Southeast Asian nation to attend the 4th edition of the North East India Festival, organised by Shyamkanu Mahanta and his company.
The Assam Chief Minister on Monday stated that barring one, seven others present with singer Zubeen Garg during his last moments in Singapore were yet to respond to the CID summons.
Sarma said that Rupkamal Kalita, who was present on the yacht when Garg died, has responded to the summons of the SIT probing into his death. “Rupkamal Kalita has informed the police that he will come to Guwahati on Tuesday,” Himanta said.
He added that they are not willing to come, citing various reasons. “But at least one person has decided to come. We believe that if one comes, the others will also follow,” the Chief Minister said.
The state CID is currently probing the case of Garg’s death after more than 60 FIRs have been lodged across the state against Shyamkanu Mahanta, the chief organiser of the North East India Festival, where the singer had gone to perform, and almost 10 others, including his manager Siddharth Sharma and band members Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and Amrit Prabha Mahanta.
These four people have been arrested in the case and sent to 14 days of police remand each.
