Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday linked the recent unrest in Nepal and Bangladesh to the dangers of violent political upheaval, warning that such turmoil weakens nations and creates space for foreign interference.
“When leaders remain distant from the people, dissatisfaction grows. What is happening in Bangladesh and Nepal benefits no one,” Bhagwat said, addressing the centenary celebrations of the Sangh.

Invoking Dr B.R. Ambedkar, he added: “Dr Ambedkar said that change does not come through violent uprisings. He called it the ‘grammar of anarchy’. Such movements only create upheaval.”
Bhagwat warned that when progressive nations fail to achieve their goals through orderly means, “the country’s own strengths get sidelined.”
Pahalgam Attack And India’s Response
The RSS chief also referred to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 Indians were killed after being asked about their religion. “The entire nation was mourning and angry about the terror attack. With complete preparations, our government and armed forces gave a befitting reply,” he said.
Bhagwat praised the “dedication” of the government, the “valour” of the armed forces and the “unity” of society, which he said created an “ideal atmosphere” in the country. He noted that the episode highlighted who India’s “true friends” were in the international community. “Even if India adopts a friendly approach to all countries, it needs to be alert and strong to defend its own security. The role played by various nations after this incident and our operation revealed our true friends,” he said.
Neighbours, Naxalism And Global Ideologies
Bhagwat said instability in the region, particularly in Nepal, should concern India beyond the realm of security. “They concern our own region and people, some of whom were part of India in the past. This is why it is a matter of concern, not merely for national security, but because it affects our sense of belonging and emotional connection,” he observed.
The RSS chief added that the “anti-social” Naxalite movement had failed because its principles were “cruel and hollow,” leading society to reject it while security forces and government action contained it swiftly.
Warning of global ideological churn, he said: “A new wave of opposing and harmful ideologies has emerged, attempting to spread even in India. Globally, this has caused social instability and disorder, prompting nations to reconsider their approaches.”
Reiterating India’s civilisational bond with its neighbours, Bhagwat said: “All these countries are our own. Until recently, they were part of India. They are our nations, not just our neighbours. Violent uprising gives chance to foreign forces to play their game.”
