A Class 10th student was brutally ragged and burnt by the hostelmates at Andhra Pradesh’s Sri Chaitanya Hostel in Morampudi. District Educational Officer, Vasudeva Rao, confirmed the incident and also reported that the management concealed this matter for almost a week.

A probe has been initiated and the detailed report will be prepared shortly, he told ANI.

Rao further shared horrific details of torture and told that the Class 10th student was burnt through an iron box. Hot iron was pressed against victim’s stomach, thigh and hands.

The 16-year-old victim is from Shankaraguptham village in Malikipuram mandal of Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema district. As per a report by India Today, the matter came into light when victim’s mother went to meet him and saw injury marks.

Victim alleged that accused threatened to kill him if he reported the matter. His mother lodged a complaint.

The victim told India Today that two of his classmates stole a camera and blamed him in front of the hostel warden and principal. On being questioned, the victim told the truth and named those two boys.

Miffed over naming them, those two classmates entered into victim’s hostel room and started yelling at him. They heated up the iron box and pressed it against victim’s thigh, hands, and stomach.

“They threatened me, saying that if I showed these new burn marks to the warden or principal, it would not be good for me. Just for a CCTV camera issue, they tortured me like this. Out of fear, I stayed silent for a whole week,” the victim was quoted as saying by the publication.

The boy is now undergoing treatment at Rajolu Government Hospital.

His mother has demanded strict action against the accused students, and hostel managment for negligence.
