Two shocking cases from Ahmedabad have brought to light the dark realities of modern marriages—where one woman alleges her life was destroyed by her husband’s porn addiction and abuse, while another claims her husband’s secret affair turned her world upside down. Both women have now approached the police, filing complaints of domestic violence and harassment against their husbands and in-laws.

In the first case from Ahmedabad, a wife has accused her husband of ruining her life due to his porn addiction. Married in 2020 through a matrimonial site match, the woman alleged that her husband, Dharmik, and his parents constantly harassed her over dowry and belittled her jewellery and gifts.

During their honeymoon in the Maldives, paid for by her father, Dharmik frequently fought with her. Later, in California, his abusive behaviour escalated—he threatened to send her back to India, triggering a panic attack that landed her in the hospital. His porn obsession worsened over time, leaving him disinterested in his wife physically. Even when she was pregnant, he allegedly assaulted her.

The wife claimed Dharmik’s reckless driving caused an accident that left her severely injured. She also accused her in-laws of constant humiliation—her mother-in-law even publicly insulted her during a religious ceremony in Texas. Unable to bear the abuse, she finally filed a domestic violence and dowry harassment case with the police in Ahmedabad.

In another incident from the city’s Nikol area, a woman discovered photos of another woman on her husband’s phone, exposing his extramarital affair. Married in 2023, the woman, a practicing lawyer from Meghaninagar, alleged that her husband, Hiren, along with his parents and sister, subjected her to domestic violence and dowry harassment.

Though her parents gave a dowry at marriage, her husband demanded more money for a car. Under pressure, she managed to arrange ₹5 lakh from her uncle, but Hiren’s drinking and abuse continued. After a year of marriage, she confronted him about his affair, but he denied it and assaulted her.

Only weeks later, she again found photographs of the woman on his phone. This time, Hiren admitted to the affair, telling his wife to accept it or leave. When she turned to her in-laws for support, they sided with him. Eventually, he beat her and threw her out of the house. The woman has now filed a formal police complaint against him and his family.
