Police Probe Jawed Habib, Son Over Alleged Crypto Scam; Over 150 Claim They Were Defrauded

The Uttar Pradesh police have registered a fraud case against the renowned hairstylist Jawed Habib and his son Anas for alleged crypto fraud.

Police in Uttar Pradesh are probing renowned hairstylist Jawed Habib, his son Anas Habib and three others for allegedly defrauding over 150 people by promising high returns on cryptocurrency investments, broadcaster India Today said in a report.

Police in Sambhal registered a fraud case against the hairstylist and his son for luring investors with the promise of 50% to 75% profit through Follicle Global Company (FLC). The father-son due allegedly persuaded people to invest in Bitcoins and Binance Coins and their money was transferred to the company’s accounts.

When the investor sought returns, the company allegedly shut down. The broadcaster’s report also said that accused allegedly fled.

“A group of people approached the police stating that they were defrauded of lakhs of rupees by Javed Habib, his son Anas Habib, and others under the name of Follicle Global Company,” KK Bishnoi, Sambhal SP, was quoted as saying by India Today.

“They had organized a meeting at Royal Palace Banquet Hall in Sambhal, promising 50–75% returns within a year. Investments were made in Binance Coins and Bitcoins. When investors demanded their money back, the accused closed the company and absconded. Following the complaints, a case has been registered against Jawed Habib, his son Anas Habib, Saiful, and others,” Bishnoi further added.
