At Keesara in Medchal-Malkajgiri, Swetha was allegedly abducted by her family from Praveen’s house after their love marriage, sparking police investigation and public outrage.

In a shocking incident at Keesara in Medchal-Malkajgiri district of Telangana, parents and relatives of a young woman allegedly abducted her from her husband’s house, just four months after she married against their wishes.

According to police, Praveen and Swetha entered into a love marriage despite objections from Swetha’s family. On Tuesday, Swetha’s relatives stormed Praveen’s home, allegedly hurled chilli powder into the eyes of his family members who tried to resist, and forcibly dragged Swetha away.

The woman’s parents reportedly felt the groom did not have a “proper” career. Both families belong to the same caste and are related.

A video of the incident shows Swetha’s family members pulling her out of the house while assaulting her in-laws, who attempted to stop them.

Based on a complaint filed by Praveen’s father, police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
