The Supreme Court on Monday stayed certain provisions of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025. A bench of Chief Justice of India B R Gavai and Justice A G Masih ordered a stay on multiple clauses of the law. Among them is Section 3(1)(r), which mandates that a person must have been a practicing Muslim for five years to create a Waqf. Read more
‘No Case Made’: Supreme Court Declines To Suspend Entire Waqf Act In Big Verdict
The Supreme Court on Monday declined to put the entire Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, on hold, noting that no such case had been made out for such an order. US President Donald Trump on Sunday said the time for being soft on illegal immigrant criminals was over under his administration. Referencing the beheading of an Indian-origin motel manager in Dallas earlier last week, Trump said the accused in the case would be charged with murder in the first degree and would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
