“Northern Command‘s resolute operations in Operation Sindoor were an exemplar of restraint turning into decisive response. Precision strikes on terror launchpads and the elimination of perpetrators of the Pahalgam massacre underscore our unwavering pursuit of peace in the region,” the Army wrote.
The Army also shared a YouTube link featuring a montage of clips from the operation, showing how the mission was executed. The video showcased the use of advanced technology, tactical planning, and coordinated strikes against terror infrastructure.
The description of the YouTube video reads, “Indian Army’s meticulous planning, precise strikes on terror launchpads and befitting reply to Pakistan’s misadventure thereafter using a mix of niche technology and human grit were critical to the success of Operation Sindoor.”
About Operation Sindoor
The operation was launched in May, following the Pahalgam massacre in April, where 26 civilians — mostly Hindu tourists — were killed in a brutal terror attack. A Christian tourist and a local Muslim were also among the victims.
Initially, The Resistance Front (TRF), a Pakistan-backed proxy of Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility but later denied involvement. India blamed Pakistan-based terror groups for the attack and warned of a strong response.
On May 7, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor, a series of targeted military strikes on terror camps operated by Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). A brief military conflict followed before both sides announced a ceasefire on May 10.
Operation Sindoor was named after the red vermilion powder traditionally worn by married Hindu women.
