The victim, Md Muntajir (34), had travelled from his native Sasang village in Latehar district to meet his partner, identified as Shabbu Praveen alias Noorjahan.

While they were meeting, an argument reportedly broke out between the two over their marriage plans. During the heated exchange, Noorjahan allegedly attacked Muntajir with a knife, police said.

Muntajir was rushed to Chatra Sadar Hospital for treatment. From there, he was referred to RIMS in Ranchi due to the severity of his injuries. However, he died on the way to the hospital, police confirmed.

Before he died, Muntajir gave a statement to the police, which was used to file a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused.

The police arrested Noorjahan shortly after the incident and recovered the knife said to have been used in the attack.

“Based on the victim’s statement, an FIR was registered. The accused was produced before the court and has been sent to judicial custody,” said Prashant Mishra, officer-in-charge of Lawalong police station.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
