On Monday, the Ministry of Railways launched the Amrit Bharat Express Quiz-03 via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, @RailMinIndia, inviting users to identify the feature that helps guide passengers through the train in the dark.

As part of this quiz, two lucky participants will be selected daily to win sponsored prizes from IRCTC, adding a fun and rewarding element to the travel experience.

This initiative not only promotes public awareness of the railway’s technological advancements but also encourages greater interaction and enthusiasm among passengers.

Amrit Bharat Express – A New Chapter In Rail Travel

The Amrit Bharat Express is a new superfast train service introduced by Indian Railways, designed for long-distance travel in non-air-conditioned (Non-AC) economy sleeper and general class coaches. Intended for journeys exceeding 800 kilometres or lasting more than 10 hours, the train can run at speeds of up to 110–130 km/h.

Beginning operations in January 2024, the train has been constructed at a cost of Rs 65 crore. Recently, the Ministry of Railways announced 12 key upgrades to the service, including a modern emergency braking system, improving both safety and passenger comfort.

Navigating In The Dark: Quiz Details

The Ministry’s quiz asked passengers:

“Which feature is used to guide the way in the dark on the Amrit Bharat train?”

The four options provided were:

  1. LED tube light
  2. Radium illuminated flooring strips
  3. Torch light
  4. Diamond white bulb

Participants are required to comment with the correct answer. Two winners will be selected via lucky draw each day, with sponsored gifts awarded by IRCTC.

The post also included an eye-catching graphic, featuring the Amrit Bharat Express and detailed information about the quiz.

“Welcome to the Amrit Bharat Express Quiz. Please write the correct answer in the comment box. Two winners selected daily through a lucky draw will receive a sponsored gift from @IRCTCofficial.” – Ministry of Railways (@RailMinIndia), September 22, 2025.

What’s The Correct Answer?

Although the Ministry of Railways is yet to officially confirm the correct answer, the majority of social media users believe it to be Option 2 – Radium Illuminated Flooring Strips. These luminous radium strips glow naturally in the dark, guiding passengers safely along corridors and inside coaches, particularly useful during emergencies or power outages.

While other options like LED tube lights and diamond white bulbs are standard parts of a train’s lighting system, they may not be reliable in a blackout. Torch lights may serve as a short-term aid, but radium strips are considered a more reliable and permanent solution for navigation in the dark.
