The report suggests that suspicion grew when the family of a seriously ill patient asked him to prescribe medication. Rather than responding with medical advice, he reportedly said he would “ask the warden and tell,” raising immediate concerns about his authenticity.
Finding something fishy, hospital attendants and relatives of patients confronted him. Upon questioning, it became clear that he was not a qualified medical professional. The impostor was apprehended by the public and subsequently handed over to the police.
The incident came to light after a man brought his critically ill wife to the emergency ward, the report claimed. The family alleged that she remained untreated for nearly two hours and later died. During this time, the fake doctor was seen moving around the ward, posing as a member of the medical staff.
India Today reported that District Hospital Senior In-Charge (SIC), Dr. Khalid Rizwan, confirmed the incident.
Rizwan said that they received the information that an unknown person was present in the ward posing as a doctor. He added that an FIR was being lodged on the basis of a written complaint.
Addressing the allegations of medical negligence, the doctor clarified that the patient was already in a critical state upon arrival. He said the woman was suffering from shortness of breath, and her oxygen level had dropped dangerously low, adding that she was given proper treatment but she could not be saved but despite all efforts, the report mentioned.
An investigation into the matter was underway.
