A 20-year-old man was intercepted by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel near the Parliament House Complex on Saturday morning and later handed over to Delhi Police for questioning, officials said.

The individual was stopped around 9:30 am on Raisina Road, between Rail Bhawan and the Parliament building, reported news agency PTI, citing a senior security officer.

He had recently arrived in Delhi from Bengaluru and was reportedly scheduled to travel to Dubai.

“Nothing incriminating was found on him. A copy of his Aadhaar card and passport was traced in his mobile phone. After preliminary questioning, he was handed over to Kartavya Path Police Station for further investigation,” the officer added.

The incident comes a day after another man was caught attempting to scale the wall of the high-security complex.

According to security officials, a proactive Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has been put in place around Parliament since the August 22 incident, when suspicious activities triggered alerts.

Under this system, anyone exhibiting unusual or doubtful behaviour is intercepted, questioned, and if necessary, handed over to the police.

Officials clarified that several people visit the Parliament House Complex daily to view or photograph the iconic structure, and only those displaying potentially threatening conduct are stopped.

The CISF was inducted to secure the Parliament complex in late 2023, replacing the CRPF, following a major breach in December when intruders released yellow smoke canisters inside the Lok Sabha chamber while the House was in session.

Earlier, in 2001, terrorists had launched a major attack on the Parliament building, which was foiled by security forces.
