A powerful explosion at a coaching centre near Satanpur mandi in Farrukhabad killed two students and injured at least 10.

Two students were killed and at least 10 others injured after a powerful explosion ripped through a coaching centre near Satanpur mandi in Farrukhabad district, police said. The blast took place around 11 am in the Kadri Gate police station area, reducing the building to rubble and injuring those present inside, officials said. The injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals, where doctors confirmed two deaths.

The impact of the explosion was such that walls and slabs were flung several metres away, while an iron grille was found nearly 150 metres from the site. Vehicles parked outside the building were also damaged, police added.

Local residents said the sound of the blast was heard several kilometres away, creating panic in the area. Rescue teams rushed to the spot and cordoned off the site.

Farrukhabad police said the cause of the blast is yet to be ascertained. Forensic experts have been called in to examine the debris.

A case has been registered and further investigation is underway, officials said.
