In a shocking incident, an Army jawan was brutally assaulted by toll plaza workers in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut after he was tied to a pole and beaten. The jawan was identified as Kapil Kavad, who was travelling to the Delhi airport with his cousin to resume duty in Srinagar.

The incident took place at the Bhuni Toll Plaza on the Meerut–Karnal highway, according to Meerut police. Chilling footage on social media showed several toll employees beating Kavad and tying him to a pole.

At least four people have been arrested in this matter, according to police, while CCTV footage from the toll plaza is being reviewed as part of the investigation.

Police informed that Kapil was on vacation and was returning to duty in Srinagar, when the altercation took place in Bhuni Toll Plaza. According to him, there was a long line of vehicles at the plaza and Kapil was in a rush and conveyed his situation to the toll employees.

However, a dispute arose between the soldier and the toll workers, who proceeded to assault the jawan with the intention of killing him. A case was registered, and police nabbed four of the accused, while other teams are reviewing the CCTV footage to arrest more individuals responsible for the incident.

This incident took place weeks after a 65-year-old retired Army jawan was beaten to death by his neighbour in UP’s Deoria. The deceased was identified as Ramdayal Kushwaha, a resident of Fatehpur village in Rudrapur police station area, police said.

According to police, Kushwaha had objected to his neighbour Vijay Bind driving his car through the victim’s land. Following this, an argument broke out between the two. Additional Superintendent of Police (North) Arvind Kumar Verma said that Vijay and some of his companions beat up Ramdayal and fled.

Upon receiving information, police reached the spot and took Ramdayal to a nearby hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.
