The father of Nikki Bhati, who was allegedly set ablaze by her husband in their residence in Greater Noida, has accused his daughter’s in-laws of not trying to save her and fleeing the crime scene.

In an exclusive conversation with CNN-News 18, the grieving father said, “My second daughter was present there — and it is clearly visible in the Instagram video. All of her family members fled, leaving the girl behind.”

He also revealed that he had given a top-model Scorpio to the accused in dowry.

Earlier on Sunday, the family of the deceased woman held a protest outside the Kasana Police station, demanding justice.

On August 21, Nikki was killed by her husband over dowry demands in Greater Noida’s Sirsa village. Nikki was set ablaze allegedly by her husband in front of her elder sister, who is also married to the same family, and her minor son. She died of severe burn injuries while on transit route from a private hospital in Noida to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.

Based on her sister, Kanchan’s complaint, Nikki’s husband, Vipin, was arrested on Saturday. He was sent to a 14-day judicial custody. He is also accused of frequently assaulting Nikki.

So far, police have made four arrests in the case, including the victim’s husband, her sister-in-law, mother-in-law and father-in-law.

The duo got married in 2016, and barely six months into married life, the husband allegedly started torturing Nikki, her family said.

Vipin and his family’s dowry demands were “increasing day by day”, despite all their demands being met during the wedding, according to the family.

Expensive items such as gold, Scorpio, Bullet bike were given as dowry to Vipin, yet he demanded Rs 36 lakh almost nine years after marriage and allegedly harassed Nikki for the same.
