A shocking case of domestic violence has surfaced from Narol, Ahmedabad, where a man allegedly subjected his wife to years of abuse. The woman has accused her husband of forcing her into five abortions against her will and, despite her being three months pregnant again, kicking her in the stomach and threatening to kill her by pouring kerosene.

The complaint, filed at Narol Police Station, names the husband Gopal, father-in-law Bhavan, brother-in-law Mehul, sister-in-law Divya, and another relative Nikita. Charges include domestic violence, dowry harassment, and physical assault.

According to the FIR, the woman married Gopal in 2015 through a traditional ceremony. The first two years of marriage were peaceful, and the couple had a son who is now nine years old. But soon after, the abuse began.

Her in-laws allegedly taunted her for being “lazy” and not bringing enough dowry. Her sister-in-law, Nikita, often instigated Gopal against her, leading to frequent beatings. Brother-in-law Mehul and his wife Divya reportedly threatened to send her back to her parents’ home, while her in-laws demanded more dowry, saying she had brought nothing compared to other brides.

The harassment escalated over the years. The woman alleged that Gopal forced her to undergo abortions four times at Krishna Hospital in Isanpur and once at Srinath Hospital—all without her consent.

On the latest occasion, matters turned violent again. At around 7 am yesterday, Gopal suddenly ordered his wife to leave the house. When she refused, he verbally abused her, hit her on the head with an iron pipe, and, along with his family members, beat her until she was bleeding. Despite knowing she was three months pregnant, Gopal allegedly kicked her in the stomach. He then threatened to burn her alive with kerosene if she didn’t leave immediately.

Terrified, the woman ran out and called her brother, who rushed her to the police station. Based on her statement, police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
