At least eight devotees died after a speeding truck rammed a tractor carrying nearly 60 people on NH-34 in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr.

At least eight people died, while 43 others were injured after a truck hit a tractor carrying devotees in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr. The accident happened in the wee hours of Monday on National Highway 34.
The devotees were travelling from UP’s Kasganj to Rajasthan’s Gogamedi at the time of the accident.

Commenting on the accident, Bulandshahr Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dinesh Kumar Singh said the truck hit the tractor at nearly 2.15 am on the Bulandshahr-Aligarh border near the Arnia bypass.
He also said the tractor was carrying nearly 60 people, all travelling to Rajasthan.Â

“An unfortunate incident has happened on NH 34, on the Aligarh border, around 2.15 tonight,” Singh told reporters.
“Around 60-61 people were travelling in a tractor from Kasganj district to Rajasthan. A speeding truck coming from behind hit it, due to which the tractor overturned, and a large number of people were injured,” he said, adding, “8 people died on the spot.”
“Forty-five others are currently undergoing treatment, with the condition of all, except three, being reported as fine,” he added.
“Those three are on a ventilator right now. The tractor has been removed from the spot. The truck that caused the accident is in police custody,” the SSP said.
