A 50-year-old woman was found dead with stab wounds at her residence under the Kukatpally police station limits in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

The victim was identified as Renu Agarwal, who lived in an apartment in Kukatpally with her husband and son, who run a steel business.

On Wednesday evening, after repeated phone calls to Renu went unanswered, the family returned home, broke open the door and found her lying in a pool of blood.

According to the police, the assailants had tied the hands and legs of the woman and stabbed her indiscriminately with a knife and scissors, leading to her death. They also allegedly used a pressure cooker to assault Renu.

The assailants also took a bath, apparently to wipe out evidence before leaving the flat.

They fled with cash and gold ornaments.

According to an ABP News report, the murder took place inside the Swan Lake gated community.

Police said the house help, Harsha (20), had been working there for only 10 days, and his friend Roshan, who was also seen in CCTV footage, is suspected of having aided in the crime.

Speaking to news agency ANI, a police official said, “Yesterday evening, the Kukatpally police received information about a 50-year-old woman being murdered. Our inspector and team reached the spot and found the woman dead with stabbing injuries.”

“We suspect that a house help who came from Jharkhand may be involved, along with another person,” the police added.

They also said the CCTV footage showed the suspects moving in the building before fleeing.
