Poojashree’s mother has alleged that her daughter was constantly tortured, both for dowry and because of Nandeesh’s extramarital affair.

A 28-year-old woman died by suicide in Bengaluru over alleged dowry harassment and her husband’s extramarital affair, police officials said on Wednesday.
According to officials, the victim, identified as Poojashree, worked as a cashier at a bank and had married Nandeesh three years ago. The couple has a young daughter. Investigators said that when she confronted her husband over his alleged relationship, he demanded dowry money and frequently quarrelled with her.

Though family members and well-wishers reportedly attempted mediation several times, the harassment is said to have continued.
On the morning of September 1, the victim was found hanging at her residence in Sidedehalli under Bagalagunte police limits.
The police have registered a case under charges of dowry harassment. Meanwhile, further investigation is underway.
Poojashree’s mother has alleged that her daughter was constantly tortured, both for dowry and because of Nandeesh’s extramarital affair, India Today reported.
“I borrowed Rs 30 lakh from my father for her wedding. He used to torture her. Even after promising at the police station to take care of her, he continued the harassment,” Poojashree’s mother said, adding, “On the day of her death, he took her from our house around 7.15 am. By 8.20, he called, saying she had committed suicide. This all happened because of his affair, they killed my daughter.”
Poojashree’s grandmother alleged the family was deceived about Nandeesh’s background and property.
“After marriage, they demanded a house. We gave ornaments, but they still tortured her. He even had an affair. Yesterday, when we informed a relative about her death, he was so shocked that he suffered a heart attack and passed away too,” she said.
Another relative of Poojashree alleged that she was forced to hand over her salary, gold, and valuables to her in-laws. “They tortured her and killed her,” the relative said.
Last week, a 27-year-old Bengaluru woman, Shilpa, was found hanging at her home. Police said her husband, Praveen, was arrested for allegedly abetting her suicide. Shilpa’s family alleged that repeated dowry demands by her in-laws drove her to take this step.
