The updated exterior includes a gloss-black grille, wing-shaped daytime running lights and redesigned rear styling with V-shaped LED taillights.Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast has introduced the new-generation VF 8, an upgraded D-segment electric SUV featuring updates to its design, chassis platform, software architecture and in-cabin technologies.
The company in a statement said the VF 8 is the first model in its portfolio to receive a broad set of upgrades covering design, technology and driving performance as part of its global electric vehicle strategy.
The SUV has been developed under VinFast’s “Tech Fluid” design philosophy and measures 4,701 mm in length, 1,872 mm in width and 1,670 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,840 mm. It features a five-seat configuration, 170 mm ground clearance and 19-inch wheels.
The updated exterior includes a gloss-black grille, wing-shaped daytime running lights and redesigned rear styling with V-shaped LED taillights.
Inside the cabin, the VF 8 features a 12.9-inch infotainment display integrating vehicle controls, a secondary driver display, dual-zone automatic climate control, air ionisation and an eight-speaker audio system. The second-row seats can recline and fold in a 60:40 split configuration to increase cargo space.
New SDV platform and thermal management system
VinFast said the new-generation VF 8 is built on a revised chassis platform with Frequency Selective Dampers on both axles to improve ride comfort and stability. The vehicle also adopts a new electrical and electronic architecture based on the Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) approach. According to the company, the system and control software were developed in-house by VinFast engineers and are managed through a Central Vehicle Computer.
The VF 8 is powered by an electric motor producing 170 kW and 330 Nm of peak torque, paired with front-wheel drive and three driving modes — Eco, Normal and Sport.
The SUV uses a 60.13 kWh battery pack, offering a claimed driving range of up to 500 km on the NEDC cycle. VinFast said the battery can be charged from 10 per cent to 70 per cent in under 30 minutes using fast charging.
The company has also equipped the vehicle with an Integrated Thermal Management system designed to regulate cooling and heating functions for the battery, motor, electrical systems and cabin climate control.
Safety features include Advanced Driver Assistance Systems such as Highway Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Warning and a 360-degree camera system. VinFast said the vehicle has been developed with the objective of meeting ASEAN NCAP five-star safety standards.
The EV maker will begin accepting pre-orders for the VF 8 in Vietnam from May 27, 2026 through its website and dealer network. The vehicle is priced at VND 999 million.
The company said deliveries are expected to begin in late July 2026.
