Vietnam’s VinFast on Saturday marked its entry into the Indian market with the launch of its first locally built premium electric SUVs, the VF 6 and VF 7. The VF 6 has been introduced at a starting price of ₹16.49 lakh, while the larger VF 7 is priced from ₹20.89 lakh, going up to ₹25.49 lakh, positioning the models as competitive offerings in India’s growing electric SUV segment.
Assembled at the company’s new Thoothukudi plant in Tamil Nadu, the models mark VinFast’s entry into the country’s fast-growing EV market and signal its ambition to become a key player in India’s green mobility transition. The VF 6 is a premium compact SUV offering a 59.6 kWh battery, ARAI-certified range of up to 468 km, multiple drive modes, a 12.9-inch infotainment system, and Level 2 ADAS. It will be available in three variants – Earth, Wind and Wind Infinity. The larger VF 7, with a wheelbase of 2,840 mm, comes in five variants, including all-wheel-drive options delivering up to 260 kW of power and 500 Nm of torque, with ranges between 438 km and 532 km.

Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia, said: “Today marks a historic milestone – the launch of cars that are not just made in India, but made by Indians, for Indians. The VF 6 and VF 7 embody premium quality, technology and practicality, tailored for Indian families.”

VinFast has also announced ecosystem partnerships with RoadGrid, myTVS and Global Assure for charging and after-sales support, along with BatX Energies for battery recycling. By the end of 2025, the company plans to establish 35 dealerships and 26 workshops across 27 cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune and Kochi.

The Thoothukudi facility, strategically located near the port, will cater to domestic and export demand, aligning with India’s vision of becoming a global EV hub. VinFast already operates in the US, Europe, and Southeast Asia, and said India is central to its next growth phase.
