BMW India has officially revealed the new X3 30 xDrive M Sport Pro ahead of its February 16, 2026 launch, as the German luxury carmaker looks to strengthen its foothold in India’s highly competitive mid-size premium SUV segment.

Pre-launch bookings for the model are already underway across authorised dealerships and online platforms.

Unlike the standard X3 models, which have been in the Indian market for over a decade now, the new M Sport Pro sits at the top of the X3 range and brings a more powerful and efficiently tuned 2-litre turbo-petrol engine with mild-hybrid support, producing roughly 258 bhp and 400 Nm paired with all-wheel drive, which makes it one of the quickest in its class – zero to 100 km/h in 6.3 sec – in India.

ETAuto drove this variant over a couple of days, but any reference to any ‘sheer driving pleasure’ is completely restricted till the second week of February.

While this is the most powerful X3 in India ever, globally there are more powerful X3 derivatives, such as the X3 M50, that are significantly stronger than the 30 xDrive M Sport Pro.

For instance, international versions of the X3 M50 use a 3-litre turbo-six engine tuned to produce around 390-400 hp, often paired with mild-hybrid assistance, which is considerably higher than the 258 bhp on the new India-spec model. These high-performance M variants are BMW’s true performance-orientated X3s in markets such as Europe and North America.

Visually, the X3 30 xDrive M Sport Pro builds on the robust proportions of the X3 family with design cues that underline its sport pretensions: A boldly styled gloss-black BMW kidney grille, larger 20-inch alloy wheels, and red M Sport brake callipers combine to create a commanding road presence, while the M Sport Pro trim imbues the SUV with sharper bumpers and aerodynamic enhancement details that set it apart from its siblings.

Inside, the cabin carries forward the premium ethos expected of a BMW flagship in this class, featuring a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen with BMW Operating System 9, and a suite of modern comforts including three-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, and an immersive 15-speaker Harman Kardon sound system; occupants also benefit from ventilated sport seats with memory function and a head-up display that augments driver focus on the road.

Safety has not been overlooked, with the X3 30 xDrive M Sport Pro boasting a comprehensive array of active and passive systems, including 360-degree cameras, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, tyre-pressure monitoring, and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, ensuring confidence behind the wheel in diverse driving conditions.

As it prepares to go on sale later this month, the BMW X3 30 xDrive M Sport Pro is expected to command a premium over existing X3 variants in India, positioning it as a strong contender against rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5 and Volvo XC60.

In order to put the segment under a scanner, below is the specification comparison between the BMW X3 30 xDrive M Sport Pro, the Mercedes-Benz GLC, the Audi Q5 and the Volvo XC60.
