The company said that it plans to continue expanding charging infrastructure to support the adoption of electric vehicles in the Indian market.Tesla on Wednesday inaugurated its first Supercharging facility in India, located in Gurugram, marking a further expansion of the company’s charging infrastructure in the country.
The facility is equipped with V4 Superchargers and Destination Chargers. According to the company, the site offers charging uptime of 99.95 per cent, aimed at supporting long-distance travel for Tesla owners.
Expansion of charging and retail footprint
Sharad Agarwal, Country Head India, Tesla, said in a social media post that the launch builds on earlier investments in the region. “This milestone builds on the foundation we set a few weeks ago,” he said, referring to the opening of Tesla’s first all-in-one Tesla Center in Gurugram on November 26. The Tesla Center combines retail, vehicle deliveries, after-sales service and charging at a single location. Agarwal said the integrated setup is intended to provide a unified ownership experience for customers.
Model Y deliveries underway
Tesla said deliveries of the Model Y have begun in India. The company is also expanding its Experience Centers and charging network as part of its India operations.
“With Model Y deliveries now underway in India, and backed by expanding Experience Centers and a growing charging network, Tesla is dedicated to making electric mobility seamless, convenient, and ready for the future for Indian customers,” Agarwal said.
The company added that it plans to continue expanding charging infrastructure to support the adoption of electric vehicles in the Indian market.
