Skoda Auto India on Tuesday unveiled the refreshed Kushaq SUV, introducing a host of segment-first features, including an all-new eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission, a rear-seat massage function, and a panoramic sunroof, as the Czech carmaker looks to strengthen its position in one of its most important markets outside Europe.

The updated model carries forward the brand’s strategy of “democratising European technology” for Indian customers and will be available with both 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engines. Pre-bookings have opened at ₹15,000, with deliveries scheduled to begin by the end of March 2026

New design and technology upgrades

The Kushaq receives Škoda’s Modern Solid design language, featuring a redesigned front grille with an illuminated light band, new LED headlamps, connected tail lamps with sequential indicators and fresh alloy wheel designs. For the first time, the Monte Carlo variant will be available from the launch.

Inside, the SUV gets a 10.1-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital cockpit on higher trims, dual-colour ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof. The system integrates an AI voice assistant powered by Google Automotive AI Agent, designed to recognise Indian English accents and deliver real-time information.

Powertrain and safety

A key highlight is the introduction of an eight-speed torque converter automatic paired with the 1.0 TSI engine, a first in the segment. The 1.5 TSI continues with the seven-speed DSG and now gets disc brakes on all wheels. The SUV retains 188 mm ground clearance and multiple drive configurations.

Škoda said the model continues to uphold its five-star Global NCAP safety credentials, offering six airbags and over 25 active and passive safety features as standard, extending to more than 40 on top variants. Equipment such as rain-sensing wipers, a rear defogger, and an auto-dimming IRVM are now standard across trims.

Ownership package

The company has introduced a “Škoda Super Care” package with a standard four-year/100,000-km warranty, four years of roadside assistance and four labour-free services for up to two years. The warranty can be extended to six years.

Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Škoda Auto, said the update underlines India’s role as a springboard for the company’s global growth strategy, while Brand Director Ashish Gupta said the launch responds to evolving customer aspirations with “real automatics” and enhanced comfort features.

The Kushaq, first introduced in 2021 under the India 2.0 programme, is produced on the MQB-A0-IN platform and remains central to Škoda’s expansion in the domestic and export markets.
