Luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz India reported its highest-ever monthly sales in September, with a robust 36 per cent growth compared to the same month last year. During the ongoing festive period, the company sold over 2,500 cars in just nine days, marking the highest Navratri sales in its history.

This surge contributed to Mercedes-Benz India’s best-ever Q2 performance, with 5,119 units sold between July and September. Sales for the first half of FY26 (April–September) reached 9,357 units, reflecting a 4 per cent growth over the previous year.

GST 2.0 fuels demand

The record performance was driven by strong customer response to the government’s GST 2.0 reforms, which unlocked pent-up demand that had been on hold since mid-August. “Our best-ever September sales were fuelled by overwhelming demand following GST 2.0 reforms and attractive offerings under our ‘Dream Days’ campaign. We are cautiously optimistic that this festive buying momentum will continue through October,” said Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.

Expanding portfolio

September sales set new records for key models across the portfolio. The Long Wheelbase E-Class sedan, GLC, GLE, GLS and AMG G63 SUVs posted their highest monthly sales, with strong demand in both the ‘Core Luxury’ and ‘Top-End Luxury’ segments.

Top-end vehicles, including GLS, S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach and AMG G63, accounted for 25 per cent of sales and showed 12 per cent year-on-year growth, with bespoke ‘manufaktur’ customisations comprising 75 per cent of these top-end sales.

The ‘Core’ segment, representing 60 per cent of overall sales, saw record sales for the LWB E-Class, GLC, and GLE, with the LWB E-Class emerging as the highest-selling luxury sedan in India, registering a 47 per cent year-on-year growth. Mercedes-Benz’s ‘Entry Luxury’ portfolio, including the A-Class sedan and GLA SUV, continued to attract younger buyers, despite challenges from lower-priced competitors.

The company’s BEV portfolio continues to expand, with top-end models accounting for 8 per cent of total sales and the EQS SUV recording its highest-ever monthly sales. The G 580 Edition 1 with EQ Technology has sold out for the year; bookings are now open for the next delivery slot.
