Maruti Suzuki India will set up a new manufacturing facility in Khoraj, Gujarat, with an investment of ₹35,000 crore, aimed at producing 10 lakh vehicles annually and creating around 12,000 potential jobs.

According to ANI, an investment letter handover ceremony was held in Gandhinagar in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Maruti Suzuki Managing Director Hisashi Takeuchi, formalising the company’s next phase of expansion in the state. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi and Maruti Suzuki Whole Time Director Sunil Kakkar were also present.

The upcoming plant will be developed on 1,750 acres of land allotted by the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC). The project is being positioned as another step towards strengthening the ‘Make in India, Made for the World’ initiative.

Maruti Suzuki began operations in 1983 with its first facility in Gurugram, Haryana, and has since expanded to Manesar and Kharkhoda in Haryana. The company recently integrated its existing Gujarat plant into its operations. It currently manufactures 17 models and more than 650 variants across its facilities.

The automaker has outlined plans to raise its overall production capacity to four million units per annum to cater to rising domestic demand and growing exports.

In 2025, Maruti Suzuki recorded its highest-ever annual production of over 22.55 lakh vehicles, the second consecutive year it crossed the 20-lakh mark. The output included vehicles for domestic sales, exports and original equipment manufacturer supplies.

The company said its top five models by production volume were Fronx, Baleno, Swift, Dzire and Ertiga, reflecting strong demand across segments.
