Lexus India recalls 117 LX SUVs over transmission software issue

Lexus India on Monday said it will undertake a voluntary recall campaign for 117 units of the Lexus LX manufactured between March 6, 2025 and September 29, 2025.

The recall is aimed at reprogramming the transmission control computer software that manages transmission performance. The company clarified that there have been no reported cases related to the issue in the Indian market.

The affected SUVs are equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission that uses linear solenoids to control gear shifts. Under certain driving conditions, a failure in the solenoid may not be properly communicated between the transmission control unit and the engine ECU due to a software concern.

Corrective action and customer outreach
The luxury carmaker said the issue can be rectified through a firmware update to the control unit. Dedicated Lexus relationship managers will reach out to affected customers as part of the recall process to ensure the update is carried out promptly and conveniently.

The recall aligns with a broader international campaign for the Lexus LX.

“As a responsible corporate, Lexus India remains deeply committed to upholding the highest product quality standards and will continue to promptly address concerns to resolve issues as quickly, conveniently and safely as possible,” the company said in a statement.

The Lexus LX, priced from ₹2.80 crore (ex-showroom), is the brand’s flagship SUV in India. It shares its underpinnings with the Toyota Land Cruiser and is currently available in the LX 500d variant.

The model is powered by a 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6 diesel engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, delivering 304 hp and 700 Nm of peak torque. It also features adaptive variable suspension and four-wheel active height control.
