Gaurav MathurHyundai Motor India has appointed Gaurav Mathur as Vice-President and Head of Corporate Planning.
Mathur joins the company after nearly 22 years at Maruti Suzuki India, where he held multiple leadership roles across product planning, innovation and electric vehicle development. Most recently, he served as Vice-President – EV Development between April 2024 and April 2026, leading EV development programmes from concept to launch.
Prior to that, he was Deputy General Manager, where he was involved in setting up an innovation lab at Maruti Suzuki’s R&D operations and managed EV development initiatives. Over his tenure at the automaker, he also held roles including Assistant General Manager, Senior Manager, Manager, Deputy Manager and Assistant Manager.
In his new role at Hyundai Motor India, Mathur will oversee corporate planning, business transformation, export expansion from India, future mobility business and innovation initiatives, according to a statement shared on LinkedIn.
Mathur said India is emerging as a global hub for innovation and manufacturing, adding that the focus would be on building “future-ready capabilities” to support sustainable growth.
He completed the Stanford LEAD Professional Certificate programme in leadership at Stanford Graduate School of Business in 2022. The programme focused on leadership, strategy, finance, critical analytical thinking and design-led innovation.
Mathur also holds an MBA in Marketing and Strategy from Management Development Institute. As part of the programme, he completed an international module at ESCP Business School across campuses in Turin, Paris and Berlin.
