Debashis Neogi, Managing Director and Board Member at Renault Nissan Technology & Business Centre India (RNTBCI) and a member of the Nasscom Engineering R&D Council, has announced his departure from the organisation.

Neogi shared the update on LinkedIn, confirming that he will begin a new personal venture after a career of more than 38 years in the automotive sector.

Reflecting on his tenure

Neogi said his 18-year association with Renault Nissan Technology & Business Centre India felt short for the experience and learning it offered. He said he joined the Renault Group with 20 years of prior automotive experience and an intent to contribute meaningfully to the organisation. He said he leaves with memories and pride in the models developed during his tenure. He listed products such as the Renault Duster, Nissan Magnite, Renault 5, Renault Scenic, Nissan Leaf and Nissan Ariya.

Neogi said RNTBCI has grown into one of India’s major Auto OEM global capability centres (GCC) with more than 10,000 employees.

Earlier experience across OEMs

Before joining Renault Nissan, Neogi held roles across multiple automotive companies. He began his career at Bajaj Auto, followed by stints at Tata Cummins and Case New Holland (CNH), working in powertrain, commercial vehicles and tractor development. At General Motors, he worked in engineering and technical operations before moving to his assignment with Renault Nissan in India.

Next steps

Neogi said the Renault Group was a place where ideas were developed and refined through collaboration. He said milestones, challenges and discussions formed part of his professional journey.

He said he is now stepping away to begin a personal venture, taking forward lessons and resilience built over nearly four decades in the sector.
