Gold Silver Rate Today:Gold and silver prices edged lower on Monday, with both metals witnessing a dip as global uncertainty kept sentiment fragile and investors turned cautious at the start of the week.
Analysts expect volatility to remain elevated, with markets reacting to the collapse of US-Iran negotiations and closely tracking key global and domestic cues.
Iran’s parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the US delegation failed to gain trust during the latest round of talks, while US Vice-President JD Vance confirmed that negotiations ended without a deal after disagreements over nuclear commitments. The breakdown has added to geopolitical uncertainty, keeping bullion markets on edge.
Market participants are also watching macroeconomic indicators, including the US Producer Price Index (PPI), movements in crude oil, and comments from Federal Reserve officials for further direction.
In the domestic context, investors will track inflation readings such as the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Wholesale Price Index (WPI), along with key Chinese data on trade, investment and growth, which could influence global commodity trends.
Pranav Mer, Vice President, EBG, Commodity & Currency Research at JM Financial Services Ltd, said bullion markets remain highly sensitive to geopolitical developments, with any progress in negotiations likely to support risk assets, while adverse outcomes could trigger fresh volatility.
Despite Monday’s decline, precious metals had ended the previous week on a strong note. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), silver futures had surged Rs 10,779, or nearly 5 per cent, while gold gained Rs 2,972, or 2 per cent.
Meanwhile, domestic commodity markets will remain closed for the morning session on Tuesday on account of Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti, with trading set to resume later in the day.
