7/11 cashiers, dog trainers, golf professional: Senator Eric Schmitt asks why America needs foreign H-1Bs for these ‘nonsense’ jobs

7/11 cashiers, dog trainers, golf professional: Senator Eric Schmitt asks why America needs foreign H-1Bs for these 'nonsense' jobs

Missouri senator Eric Schmitt made a video of himself listing out H-1B jobs that do not require any high skill, and then tore the paper from which he was reading, calling out companies that are abusing the program, including 7/11. A staunch critic of the H-1B visa program, Schmitt has been raising his voice against the abuse of the visa program, claiming that companies are using it to fill DEI positions. “The H-1B program is meant to bring in supposedly high-skilled workers but that’s actually not what it’s been used for. It’s being abused in a big way. 7/11 applied to fill two cashier positions in Connecticut: one for 31 grand for a year and the other for $24,000 a year,” he read out. “High-skilled labor is in demand, evidently, to be a dog trainer in Connecticut. It will pay $45,000 a year; only foreigners need to apply. Obviously, I’m a big fan of MAHA (Make America Healthy Again) but I don’t know if we need a wellness coordinator in Oakland City, Indiana for $40,000 a year from somewhere else.” “We all love gold, I love golf, President Trump loves golf. Evidently, in St Augustine, Florida, they are seeking somebody from another country to be an assistant golf professional; not an American, and also to manage the golf shop for $35,000 a year. Yale New Haven Health applied to fill a position of diversity and inclusion specialist, a totally made-up nonsense job, not for an American to do the stupid job; but actually to have a foreigner do that stupid job.””Dartmouth College applied to fill the position of program manager, DEI, through the H-1b visa program,” Schmitt read out and tore the paper as he said that legal immigration is not always right, just because they have valid documents to stay in the country.

DEI and H-1B

DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) program of an organization allows to hire non-Americans as it is meant for inclusive hiring. But the H-1B visa program is a specialty program through which only high-skilled foreigners can be hired, ideally. But Schmitt alleged that companies are abusing both and hiring through H-1B visa program for their DEI positions that require no high skill.
