'They had no fear': Indian-origin couple in Brisbane claims knife-wielding robbers stole 4 Mercedes, 1 Porsche from home

An Indian-origin couple Sourabh and Pragya reported a high-end burglary from their home in Queensland in which their five high-end cars were stolen by knife-wielding burglars who broke into their property just after 10 pm on November. Their house is secured with surveillance, alarm, a guard dog but nothing stopped the thieves, Australian media reported. Initially, there were only two youths but they returned hours later with three more people to steal the other cars. A 2024 Mercedes-Benz E300, a 2024 Mercedes-Benz GL300, a 2023 Mercedes-Benz G63, a 2019 Mercedes-Benz E220 and a 2017 Porsche Cayenne were taken from the property, police said. All the cars had insurance. Sourabh runs a consultancy firm ‘Education Embassy’ and said he uses the cars as part of his business. Sourav and Pragya told ‘A Current Affair’ that the burglars roamed around the house with a huge knife without any fear; they also saw the cameras but they were not scared. While all these happened, the couple and their newborn were sleeping. “I’ve got a newborn at home, so you can imagine that emotional trauma,” Pragya told the news program. They said the incident has left an emotional “scar”, with Pragya unable to sleep and Sourabh waking up every 30 minutes to make sure his home is safe.“My five-year-old comes and asks, ‘Mum, am I safe enough to play here?’, ‘Am I safe enough to go downstairs?’ What would I say? How do you convince a five-year-old that you are safe in your own home? There is no words for it,” said Pragya.According to reports, all five vehicles have been since located in Logan, about 50 km away from their home. Two people, including a 17-year-old, have been arrested and charged. Social media users questioned why the family had so many luxury cars and how the heist story, despite a dog and alarm system, was not believable and came across as an inside job for insurance.
