India’s S-400 air-defence system has once again become a global talking point as Russian President Vladimir Putin visits New Delhi. The S-400, known for its long-range tracking and interception capability, provides India with a powerful shield against enemy aircraft, drones, and missiles. India had signed a five-regiment deal with Russia in 2018, and three regiments have already been delivered, while discussions on the remaining two and the purchase of nearly 300 additional missiles are expected during this visit. The system’s multi-layered coverage and rapid response have significantly strengthened India’s air-defence posture against regional threats.
