5 from Bangaldesh get life in terror conspiracy case

KOLKATA: A sessions court in Kolkata on Wednesday sentenced five Bangladeshis to life imprisonment after holding them guilty of conspiring to carry out terrorist attacks in India, waging war against the country and possessing fake Indian documents.One accused, Abdul Kalam, was discharged for lack of evidence. Those convicted were Anwar Hossain Faruque, Md Rubel, Maulana Yusuf Sk, Md Sahidul Islam and Jabirul Islam. The six, suspected to be members of terror outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh, were arrested by Kolkata STF in Sept 2016. It was alleged they planned bomb blasts in various parts of India, including the northeastern and southern states.
