Meet Shhyamali De: Raj Nidimoru’s ex-wife in spotlight

Meet Shhyamali De; Raj Nidimoru’s ex-wife in spotlight after his wedding to Samantha Ruth Prabhu

Following filmmaker Raj Nidimoru’s wedding to Samantha Ruth Prabhu, his ex-wife Shhyamali De has garnered attention. A creative professional who previously worked on films like ‘Rang De Basanti’ and ‘Omkara’, Shhyamali maintained a low profile. Her recent social media activity, including a cryptic Valentine’s Day post and a quote shared before the wedding, has sparked speculation among the public.

Soon after filmmaker Raj Nidimoru married actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu on December 1, 2025, one name unexpectedly caught public attention and it’s none other than Shhyamali De, Raj’s former wife. For years, Shhyamali whose Instagram bio reads, “May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness for all,” remained completely away from the limelight by maintaining a low-profile life despite being connected to the Indian film industry. She has been described as a behind-the-scenes creative professional who preferred to let her work speak rather than her public presence.

Her work in cinema

Shhyamali has contributed to cinema more than many realise. She has worked as an assistant director on Aamir Khan’s ‘Rang De Basanti’ and Ajay Devgn’s ‘Omkara’. Later, she handled creative supervision on the 2014 rom-com ‘Happy Ending’, directed by Raj & DK.

Shhyamali’s Valentine’s Day post

Shhyamali and Raj got married in 2015, and although their marriage ended in 2022, she had kept a warm tone publicly — posting a Valentine’s Day wish in 2023 that read, “There is a hand I love to hold, a face I love to see, there is a voice I love to hear that means the world to me… At the center of my life, at the heart of all that matters, is you and the love we share. When I count my blessings, I always think of you! Happy Valentine’s Day R!.”

Shhyamali’s recent post before Raj and Samantha’s wedding

A day before Raj and Samantha’s wedding, Shhyamali posted a quote on her Instagram Story that read, “Desperate people do desperate things.” The timing led to widespread assumptions online, though she did not mention anyone directly.
