Whitney Leavitt announces her Broadway debut

Whitney Leavitt is trading reality TV for the razzle-dazzle of Broadway. Reality TV star Whitney Leavitt is set to make her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in the iconic musical Chicago. Known for “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” and “Dancing with the Stars,” Leavitt will join the Tony-winning revival for a limited six-week engagement starting February 2, 2026.

Whitney Leavitt, known for her role in Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and as a Season 34 semi-finalist on Dancing with the Stars, is officially heading to Broadway. She will make her debut as the iconic Roxie Hart in the sex-and-death storyline of Broadway’s long-running musical Chicago.

All the way to Broadway

On Monday, Dec. 1, she announced on Instagram that she is trading reality TV for the razzle-dazzle of Broadway. She will begin on Feb. 2, 2026, for a six-week limited engagement at the Ambassador Theatre through Mar., 2026. Leavitt expressed her excitement at making her professional theatrical debut and joining the cast of the show as murderess Roxie Hart in the Tony-winning revival. “Grateful beyond words to ANNOUNCE that I will be joining @chicagomusical in the iconic role of Roxie Hart 💕 beginning Feb. 2nd 2026! See you in New York City! #chicagoonbroadway,” she wrote on Instagram. Check out Whitney Leavitt’s post here.

How DWTS turned into an audition tape

Whitney Leavitt, 32, a Utah-based actress and millennial mum of three, is also a social media personality. She has gained a devoted fanbase online thanks to her dance videos, family comedy, and lifestyle content. Leavitt’s Broadway debut is surprising only for those who have not observed her return to Dancing with the Stars. She and Mark Ballas performed an Argentine tango to “Cell Block Tango”, one of the show’s most iconic numbers. It almost served as an audition for the part. Her stint on the show proved that she could handle demanding choreography under pressure. But Chicago demands more than dance chops. A role that is equal parts ambitious and amoral demands sharp timing, vocal stamina, and the ability to sell a character performed by Broadway superstars and celebrities over the past decades.

All about Chicago

The longest-running American musical in Broadway history, Chicago is now in its 29th year. The current Broadway production is stacked with big names. Kate Baldwin currently stars as Roxie Hart, with Sophie Carmen-Jones as Velma Kelly, Tam Mutu as Billy Flynn, and Tony winner Alex Newell as Matron “Mama” Morton. Raymond Bokhour (Amos Hart) and R. Lowe (Mary Sunshine) round out the principal cast. Penned by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, the musical revolves around two murderesses, Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly. Chicago is directed by Walter Bobbie, choreographed by the legendary Ann Reinking, with music by John Kander. Since its first opening, Chicago has won six Tony Awards, including Best Musical Revival, and a Grammy for Best Musical Cast Recording. Leavitt will join the company for her limited-run engagement next year, and all eyes are on her debut. Go to Source
