Breaking: Chaos in Parliament as Ministers Table Key Bills Amid Heavy Opposition Protests

Heavy uproar was witnessed in Parliament today as several key legislative items were taken up amid continuous sloganeering from the Opposition. The session began with the government laying papers related to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, listed under item number six in today’s order of business. The House then approved multiple motions, including the extension of time for the Select Committee’s report on the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Bill 2025. Another motion was passed to extend the deadline for presenting the Select Committee’s report on the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill 2025, with the Chair declaring the decision in favour of the “Ayes.” Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman rose to introduce a bill to amend the Manipur Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. Following this, MP K. Radhakrishnan tabled an explanatory statement in both Hindi and English, detailing the urgent need for legislation through promulgation. The session intensified as ministers attempted to continue proceedings while the Opposition raised slogans, leading to loud chaos in the House. Similar scenes were reported earlier in the Rajya Sabha, where the Opposition stated they were not given the opportunity to bid farewell to a senior member.
