Janhit: Opposition’s Call for Election Commissioner’s Resignation Gains Momentum | ABP NEWS

India’s political storm over alleged voter fraud continues to intensify, with the Opposition now considering an unprecedented move — the impeachment of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. This comes in response to the Election Commission’s (ECI) demand that Rahul Gandhi either submit an affidavit or issue a public apology within 7 days for claims of mass vote deletion, particularly in Bihar. As the first day of the deadline passes, the Opposition seems unfazed, escalating the conflict instead. In key meetings led by INDIA bloc leaders, talks of initiating impeachment proceedings surfaced, citing ECI’s alleged bias and intimidation. However, with Parliament’s monsoon session nearing its end and numbers not favoring the Opposition, the move appears more symbolic than feasible. Meanwhile, the ECI released a detailed list of 6.5 million deleted voters in Bihar, challenging critics to verify its accuracy. The BJP retaliated, accusing the Opposition of undermining democratic institutions for political gain. Ironically, some BJP leaders acknowledged past instances of vote manipulation, adding further complexity. As Parliament remains paralyzed by slogans and walkouts, one thing is clear: the 2029 election battle may not be between parties — but between parties and the very system meant to ensure free and fair elections.
