‘Want America-hating migrants in US’: Donald Trump Jr slams WSJ for defending Afghan refugees in op-ed after DC shooting

'Want America-hating migrants in US’: Donald Trump Jr slams WSJ for defending Afghan refugees in op-ed after DC shooting

Donald Trump Jr. criticised the Wall Street Journal editorial board on Friday after the paper published an op-ed defending Afghan refugees living in the United States. The Journal’s editorial was titled “The Ambush on the National Guard.” It argued that Afghan refugees should not be blamed for the actions of a single individual.Recently, two National Guardsmen were shot by a suspected Afghan national, killing one of them and leaving one critically injured. The Trump administration halted all immigration requests from Afghan nationals and later extended the pause to include migration from all Third World countries.

What the op-ed said

The WSJ piece said: “The ambush of two West Virginia National Guard members near the White House Wednesday afternoon is horrifying on its own. But it arouses a particular anger because the alleged shooter is an Afghan man who was granted refuge in the US. after the Taliban takeover in 2021.”It added: “The alleged shooting by an Afghan ‘partner’ shouldn’t condemn all who assisted the US and now live here. Some will say this means the U.S. should never admit such refugees, but the alternative is abandoning allies who assist Americans in war to the retribution of our enemies. The fate of Afghans, men and women, who worked with the US has often been brutal. You can be sure Americans will fight overseas again, and our troops will need allies on the ground to succeed. How many will assist us if they believe there will be no exit for them if the US leaves with the enemy triumphant?”Trump Jr. responded on X: “Give me a f***ing break. The RINOs at the Wall Street Journal Editorial Board want us to be flooded with millions of America-hating migrants who don’t share our values.” He attacked some Republicans as well: “This is a good reminder that it’s not just Democrats responsible for this – It’s the globalist RINOs too.” RINO stands for “Republican in name only.”Trump Jr has long aligned himself with his father’s hardline stance on immigration. WSJ’s editorial board has published various pieces critical of high-profile figures within the MAGA movement, according to Mediaite
