Ranbir Kapoor wants ‘Love And War’ to release by June 2026

Ranbir Kapoor wants ‘Love And War’ to release by June 2026, seeks four-month gap before ‘Ramayana’ - Report

Ranbir Kapoor is juggling two big projects, and both of them are set to hit cinemas in 2026. On one hand, he has Nitesh Tiwari’s two-part epic ‘Ramayana’, planned for Diwali 2026 and 2027. On the other, he has Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-awaited drama ‘Love And War’, which, according to reports, Ranbir now wants to release by June 2026. With both films promising to be major cinematic events, the actor is carefully planning their release to give each its own space and spotlight.

Ranbir Kapoor wants four-month gap between films

The ‘Barfi!’ actor reportedly wants at least a four-month gap between the two films. Since ‘Ramayana’ is perfect for a Diwali release, Ranbir has asked Sanjay Leela Bhansali to bring ‘Love And War’ to cinemas by June 2026 at the latest. As reported by Bollywood Hungama, “RK feels that there’s too little of a gap between ‘Love And War’ and ‘Ramayana’. He is firm on his stance of releasing ‘Love And War’ in June.”

‘Ramayana’ makers support Ranbir’s preferred release timing

It’s not just Ranbir pushing for the June date. His producer, Namit Malhotra, is also keen to ensure the film releases in June. The source added, “Ranbir’s producer, Namit Malhotra too, is putting the pressure to ensure that SLB releases ‘Love And War’ in June, as he doesn’t want the aftermath of ‘Love And War’ to impact ‘Ramayana’ in any way, given that the latter is a much bigger film.”

Bhansali considers August Independence Day release

While Bhansali is reportedly keen to release the film in August on Independence Day, Ranbir seems determined to keep it in June. The actor wants to make sure the two films have enough space between them, giving each its own spotlight.Earlier reports by News18 Showsha suggested that ‘Love And War’, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, and Alia Bhatt, is eyeing a June 5, 2026 release. “Slated exactly a week after the IPL finale and coinciding with summer holidays, the date offers a prime launchpad for a big‑ticket spectacle like ‘Love And War’. With no immediate box‑office clutter and a high footfall period, this could be a strategic move to maximise the film’s reach,” the report said.Ranbir’s plan shows careful planning. By releasing ‘Love And War’ in June, the team hopes to avoid clashing with ‘Ramayana’ and give both films their deserved attention. If all goes according to plan, audiences will get two of Ranbir’s biggest films in 2026, each in its own perfect window. Go to Source
