Ameesha Patel says Dharmendra always made her feel like family

Ameesha Patel shares fond memories of Dharmendra, says, 'he always made me feel as if I was part of the Deols’

Late actor Dharmendra touched millions of lives not just with his movies, but with his down-to-earth demeanour and humble nature. Recalling the legendary actor, Ameesha Patel shared one of the last conversations she had with Dharmendra. The actress mentioned how he always called her his ‘Sakina’ (Ameesha’s character from ‘Gadar,’ where she shared the screen with Sunny Deol). She also added that the ‘Sholay’ star always made her feel like a part of the family.

“Last year, when I met him at Aamir’s daughter’s reception, he reminded me of a film we were supposed to do together where he was to play my father. He had such a sharp memory,” she recalled while speaking to News18.

Emphasising the warmth the actor carried in his heart, Ameesha added, “Every time he would meet me, he would hug me and say, ‘Arrey meri Sakina!’ He always made me feel as if I was part of the Deols.” Speaking of the Deol family, she described them as one of the finest and most amazing people in the industry. She credited Dharamendra for the values of his family. “He had the cutest smile. He would give me the sweetest words of encouragement. I would light up seeing him,” she continued.

Ameesha Patel’s association with the Deols goes way back

Ameesha shared that she was supposed to make my debut as the female lead with Vijeta Films, titled ‘Samah.’ All this happened before ‘Gadar,’ and in the said movie, Jackie Shroff was supposed to play her. “I interacted a lot with Dharam ji then. I used to be in and out of Sunny Super Sound. I would’ve lunch with him. He always thought of me as part of his family. He always used to say, ‘Ameesha mere ghar ki beti hai,’” shared the actress. At the end of her conversation, Ameesha paid tribute to the late actor. She said Dharmendra’s demise has created a void, and he will be dearly missed. “The Indian film industry has not just lost an iconic actor and the most handsome man probably on this planet, but also a legendary human being. Many people get name, fame, stardom and worldwide recognition, but when you pass away to leave a legacy where people miss the human being that you were, that’s a bigger achievement. That’s why he has left behind a void in everyone’s heart,” remarked the actress. Go to Source
