Mastiii 4 registers second-biggest opening weekend of the Masti franchise

Vivek Oberoi, Ritiesh Shivdasani and Aftab Shivdasani’s ‘Mastiii 4’ registers second-biggest opening weekend of the Masti franchise

Mastiii 4 has achieved the second-biggest opening weekend in the Masti franchise history, raking in Rs 8.50 crore. This performance surpasses previous installments like Great Grand Masti and the original Masti, though it falls short of the record-breaking Grand Masti. The film’s consistent weekend collections highlight its strong appeal within the adult comedy genre.

The fourth instalment of the popular adult comedy franchise starring Vivek Oberoi, Ritiesh Shivdasani, Aftab Shivdasani, Arshad Warsi and Tusshar Kapoor, Mastiii 4, has delivered a decent performance at the box office, officially becoming the second-biggest opening weekend in the history of the Masti series. The film clashed with Farhan Akhtar’s 120 Bahadur which went on to collect Rs 10.10 crore in the opening weekend. Mastiii 4 collected Rs 2.75 crore on Friday, maintained the exact same level on Saturday with Rs 2.75 crore, and witnessed a slight jump on Sunday with Rs 3 crore (early estimates). This brings its total opening weekend to Rs 8.50 crore, a figure that positions it above Great Grand Masti and Masti 1, while securing the No. 2 spot in the franchise rankings.

Vivek Oberoi Opens Up About Being Boycotted And Battling Depression

Comparatively, Great Grand Masti despite being leaked on the internet had opened with a weekend total of Rs 8.30 crore, with day-wise numbers of Rs 2.65 crore (Fri), Rs 2.45 crore (Sat), and Rs 3.20 crore (Sun). While Masti 3 enjoyed a higher Sunday figure, its lower Friday and Saturday earnings allowed Mastiii 4 to edge past it by a narrow margin of Rs 0.20 crore. At the top of the list, the unbeatable Grand Masti (Masti 2) continues to reign supreme. The 2013 film remains one of Bollywood’s biggest adult comedy blockbusters, having collected a massive Rs 40.18 crore in its opening weekend, with extraordinary numbers of Rs 12.50 crore, Rs 13.22 crore, and Rs 14.46 crore across its first three days. It was the first A rated the film to cross Rs 100 crore mark.Even the original Masti (2004) recorded a modest yet successful opening weekend of Rs 5.47 crore, with collections of Rs 1.80 crore on Friday, Rs 1.60 crore on Saturday, and Rs 2.07 crore on Sunday. While its numbers were respectable for its time, Mastiii 4 has comfortably surpassed it due to the franchise’s expanded audience base and the growth of the comedy genre in the last two decades. With Rs 8.50 crore, Mastiii 4 may not be competing with big mainstream releases, but within its own franchise universe, it has carved out a significant achievement.
