J-K: 3 drug peddlers held in Jammu; properties of 2 others attached

NEW DELHI: Three drug peddlers were arrested and properties linked to two others, including a residential house, awere attached across Jammu division on Saturday, police said. Officers also recovered over Rs 2 lakh and a large number of banned tablets from a house in Katra town of Reasi district, a police spokesman added.Two peddlers were picked up from Miran Sahib and Ware House areas in Jammu, with 18.35 grams and nine grams of heroin seized from them, respectively. Another accused was arrested in Kathua district.In Reasi, police raided the house of Renu Devi near the Chintamani temple in Katra and seized 100 Tramadol capsules, 74 Alprazolam tablets and 14 Petril tablets, along with over Rs 2 lakh. “Preliminary investigation suggests the money was proceeds of the illegal sale of controlled drugs,” the spokesman told news agency PTI, adding that a case has been registered and further inquiries are underway to identify the source of the drugs and expose the network behind the trade.
