Indian-origin Nicholas Singh, one of Canada's 25 most wanted criminals, arrested in Toronto

Indian-origin Nicholas Singh arrested in Toronto one year after he fled while he was on parole.

Nicholas Singh, one of the 25 most wanted criminals in Canada, was arrested in Toronto while he was spotted inside a vehicle. The 24-year-old Indian-origin criminal was wanted for being unlawfully at large. He has been on the run for over a year while serving a five-year, five-month and 10-day sentence for robbery and firearm-related charges. The Toronto Police announced Singh’s arrest as there was a Canada-wide warrant against Singh for breaching his parole.

Arrested without any incident

According to the Toronto Police, Nicholas Singh was spotted in a vehicle and he was arrested without incident. Officers found a firearm, an extended magazine and ammunition in the vehicle. The Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad was monitoring his case and he was considered high risk. They got a tip on Friday about a suspicious vehicle and found Nicholas inside. Singh was number 15 on the list of 25 most wanted fugitives on Canada’s BOLO (Be On the Lookout) program.

Fresh charges slapped against Singh

  • Possess restricted or prohibited firearm without holding a licence and registration certificate
  • Possess firearm other than restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence
  • Possess prohibited/restricted weapon or prohibited device knowing no authority
  • Occupy motor vehicle with firearm
  • Possess loaded regulated firearm
  • Possess firearm with altered serial number

The present BOLO list includes two other Indian-origin criminals: 26-year-old Gurkirat Singh who is wanted by the Delta Police over an alleged sexual assault case from 2024; and Dharam Singh Dhaliwal, wanted in connection with the murder of another Indian-origin individual in 2022. Pawanpreet Kaur, the victim, was shot multiple times at a gas station where she worked.
