Toyota Kirloskar Motor has opened its new experiential space, ‘tem’, at Phoenix Mall of Asia in Bengaluru, bringing together elements of Japanese culture, technology and the Indian philosophy of mindful living.

Spread across 8,200 sq ft on the mall’s ground floor, the centre is designed as a sensory experience through visual projections, sound, scent, textures and a matcha-themed café.

Speaking at the launch, Tadashi Asazuma, Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said the initiative aligns with the company’s vision of creating “Happier Paths Together”.

He added that the concept drew from sādhanā, which he described as “the mindful pursuit of inner balance and fulfilment”, noting that the space brings together Japanese precision and serenity with this Indian idea.

Features of the space

The experience begins with a mirrored, projected walkthrough of changing seasons, referencing the shared natural rhythms of India and Japan. This is followed by an audio-visual installation created with DRUM TAO, centred on music as a shared expression between the two cultures.

The centre also includes a merchandise zone offering curated collectibles and a café serving matcha-based drinks with Indian flavours such as mango.
