Dubai is hosting the seventh edition of Dubai Run today, November 23, as thousands of fitness enthusiasts take to the streets of the city. To accommodate participants and ensure smooth travel, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced extended metro services, strategic road closures, and alternative routes, while Salik has implemented temporary toll adjustments.

Metro services extended for early race start

The Dubai Metro will operate unusually early on race day, starting at 3:00am and continuing until midnight to support participants traveling to the starting point. The RTA recommends that runners use the World Trade Centre Metro Station for direct access to the course.Runners are also reminded to check that their nol cards have sufficient credit to avoid delays: Dh15 for Silver Class or Dh30 for Gold Class for a round trip. This ensures a seamless commute for all participants, particularly those arriving before sunrise.

Key road closures on race morning

To facilitate the event safely, a number of major roads will be temporarily closed from 3:00am to 10:00am. These measures are aimed at securing the race course and managing the large crowds expected on Sheikh Zayed Road and surrounding streets.Affected areas include:

  • Sheikh Zayed Road: from Trade Centre Roundabout to Al Hadiq Road bridge
  • Lower Financial Centre Street: between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road
  • Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard: one-way section
  • Al Sukook Street: one-way lane
  • Parking areas along Sheikh Zayed Road

Authorities have emphasized that these closures are temporary and normal traffic flow will resume after 10:00am.

Alternative routes for motorists

To reduce congestion during the event, the RTA has suggested the following detour routes:

  • Upper Financial Centre Street
  • Zabeel Palace Road
  • Al Wasl Road
  • Al Khail Road

Motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance, allow extra travel time, and check traffic conditions to ensure a smooth commute during the race.

Salik toll adjustments and traffic tips

To further manage traffic flow, Salik has implemented temporary toll rates for Sunday, November 23:

  • Peak hours: 6:00am–10:00am: Dh6; 4:00pm–8:00pm: Dh4
  • Low-peak hours: 10:00am–4:00pm: Dh4; 8:00pm–1:00am: Dh4
  • Off-peak hours: 1:00am–6:00am: Free

Drivers are encouraged to check travel times in advance and avoid peak periods where possible. The temporary toll changes aim to balance traffic loads during the morning and evening, particularly around the road closures linked to Dubai Run.
