Update: FIR Filed Against 60 BLOs and Supervisors in Greater Noida Over SIR Lapses

In a major development linked to the ongoing SIR (Special Summary Revision) process, authorities in Greater Noida have registered FIRs against 60 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and multiple supervisors for alleged negligence. According to officials, these workers failed to adhere to the required procedures while conducting SIR verification, prompting strict action under the direction of the District Magistrate. The administration claims that despite clear guidelines, significant lapses were reported—ranging from incomplete field verification to delayed submission of updated records. With the SIR exercise now underway across Uttar Pradesh, including Gautam Buddh Nagar district, the government has warned that any form of carelessness will not be tolerated, especially as the process directly affects voter list accuracy ahead of upcoming elections. The FIRs highlight growing concerns over preparedness, training, and pressure on ground-level staff involved in voter verification. The crackdown also comes at a time when political parties are accusing each other of attempting to influence the revision process for electoral gains. Officials said the action aims to reinforce accountability and ensure that the SIR process is completed correctly and within the prescribed timeline. The district administration has stated that further inquiries are underway and additional action may follow if more irregularities are detected.
