Breaking: BJP Intensifies Mission Bengal as Mamata Battles EC Over SIR Controversy

As West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee confronts the Election Commission over the SIR verification process, the BJP has launched an aggressive political strategy aimed at expanding its influence in the state. While Mamata has accused the EC and the BJP of using the SIR exercise to manipulate voter lists ahead of elections, the BJP has activated a large-scale organisational plan to strengthen its presence across Bengal. After the Bihar victory, the BJP believes momentum can be carried into Bengal. The central leadership has deployed senior organisational heads to key regions: Pavan Rana has been assigned responsibilities from Delhi, M. Siddharthan will oversee Kolkata and South 24 Parganas, N. Madhukar will manage Nabadweep and North 24 Parganas, and Anant Narayan Mishra will supervise the strategic Malda–Murshidabad–Siliguri belt. These leaders are set to remain in Bengal for the next five months to restructure the ground network. The BJP is also emphasising its historic connection to Bengal through Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s legacy, while TMC counters that Bengal has never accepted the BJP and never will. Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav has intensified attacks, calling the SIR timing a “major conspiracy.” With both parties escalating their campaigns, Bengal is set for a high-stakes political confrontation.
