AAP announces 22 candidates for Goa Zilla Panchayat polls, to contest all 50 seats

.

NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced 22 candidates for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat elections in Goa and said it plans to contest all 50 seats. This is the first time the party will fight all 50 seats in the state. More candidates are likely to be announced in the coming days. The announcement indicates a push by AAP to expand its organisation at the local level. The party said its candidates include young people, women, and social workers from different communities. Opposition parties, including AAP, have been criticising the BJP-led state government over rising prices, unemployment, and the condition of basic services in villages. The government, however, maintains that development works are continuing. The election for the 50 constituencies of the zilla panchayat (ZP), earlier scheduled for December 13, has been postponed to December 20, the government said on Tuesday. The detailed schedule will be issued by the state election commission (SEC).
