Sonakshi shuts down pregnancy rumours

Sonakshi Sinha shuts down pregnancy rumours: When I’m pregnant, I’ll be the first one to tell the world

After weeks of pregnancy speculation, Sonakshi Sinha decided to put the rumours to rest with a clever Instagram post in October. She joked, “World record holder for longest pregnancy in human history.”At Ramesh Taurani’s Diwali bash, her husband Zaheer Iqbal joined in on the fun. He placed his hand on her midriff while posing for the paparazzi, pretending to confirm the rumours, only to burst into laughter moments later.

Sonakshi reactions

In an interview with News18 Showsha, the ‘Dabangg’ actress said, “I didn’t take any jab. The media only keep taking jabs at me. They keep thinking that I’m pregnant! When I’m pregnant, I’ll be the first one to tell the world that guys, abb main pregnant hoon, chup ho jaao (laughs).”

Sonakshi Sinha on life after marriage

Sonakshi and Zaheer got married in June 2024 after being together for nearly seven years. She says she’s glad that nothing has really changed after the weddin, especially when it comes to her work and career. While Bollywood often sidelines married female actors, Sonakshi is glad that she’s still working with the same enthusiasm and energy as before. “They [women actors of the generation before hers] walked so that we could run. Today, I can’t even imagine that I’m married and so, I won’t be getting to do any work. That thought also won’t come to me. I can’t think in that direction at all. Marriage is a part of life – as it should be,” stated by Sonakshi. She further added, “Marriage doesn’t bring a halt to any other profession either. Today, if a female journalist is getting married, they won’t suddenly stop working. There isn’t going to be a pause in their work life. Hats off to women actors before us who have paved the path for us.” So, does it mean that ageism has also disappeared from the film industry? “This obsession with youth is there till some extent. But I think most people have now moved beyond it. They’re willing to look past it.”To strengthen her point, she mentions Jaya Bachchan, who returned to the screen with ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ and will soon be seen in ‘Dil Ka Darwaaza Khol Na Darling’, the actress added, “Today, there are roles – some beautiful ones – being written for women across all age brackets. We now live in an age where rank newcomers of 17 and 18 are making their debuts. At the same time, we’ve Jaya ji and Shabana (Azmi) ji working. I think it’s beautiful to see women of every age range coming into their own, finding their own niche and kill it.”What also motivates her is noticing that, although still limited, some producers are gradually becoming more open to investing in women-led films. She feels the shift is small but promising and hopes more producers will show similar courage. Citing an example, she mentions her recent project Jatadhara, where she worked with Prerna Arora, whom she considers a rare figure in the industry.Meanwhile, her Telugu debut ‘Jatadhara’ received decent reviews.
